Album Notes & Community Reviews
This album captures Freddie Hubbard, a master of hard bop, pushing his own boundaries into the avant-garde. The title track is an explosive mix of a fiery, memorable theme, modal harmonies, and sections of blistering free-form improvisation. The key to the session is drummer Joe Chambers, whose dynamic, fluid style was perfectly suited for this adventurous 'new thing' territory, making this one of the most exciting and forward-looking albums of the era.
