Album Notes & Community Reviews

Anchored by the unmistakable, heavy purr of the Hammond B3 organ, this quintet date delivers quintessential, greasy club grooves. The leader's approach to the instrument is notably rhythmic and percussive, providing a thick, blues-oriented foundation for the frontline horns. The session exemplifies the highly successful, commercial soul-jazz formula that dominated urban jukeboxes during the era.
