Releasing her second album of the year as the political climate in Brazil rapidly deteriorated, Gal Costa embraced a staggeringly aggressive, highly experimental sound. 'Gal' is wildly manic and intensely psychedelic, pushing deeply warm, remarkably melodic Tropic谩lia pop into fiercely avant-garde, heavily distorted, and wonderfully surreal acid-rock freakouts.
