Album Notes & Community Reviews

With 'Today', the Boston-based trio Galaxie 500 effectively pioneered the slowcore movement through minimalist, unhurried arrangements and languid, reverb-drenched instrumentation. Dean Wareham's fragile, yearning vocals and the band's delicate interplay stand in stark, deliberate contrast to the aggressive, fast-paced underground rock of the late 1980s. It remains a quiet, immensely sentimental masterpiece that finds profound emotional resonance in calm, atmospheric simplicity.
