On 'Step in the Arena', Gang Starr fully matures into their legendary sound, setting a new standard for sophisticated East Coast hip-hop. DJ Premier's incredibly rhythmic, jazz-infused sampling provides a warm, mellow foundation for Guru's calm yet boastfully conscious urban storytelling.
