Album Notes & Community Reviews
The first in a series of albums exploring the music of his home continent, 'Chapter One' finds the fiery Argentinian saxophonist Gato Barbieri masterfully blending the raw energy of free jazz with the rhythms and folk traditions of South America. The music is a powerful and passionate statement, full of Barbieri's signature, searing tenor saxophone cries and a dense, churning rhythmic foundation from an all-star percussion section. It's a landmark of the Latin jazz and world fusion movements.
