Album Notes & Community Reviews

'In Search of the Mystery' served as Argentine saxophonist Gato Barbieri's debut as a bandleader. Released on the avant-garde ESP-Disk label, the album documented his intense, howling free-jazz approach prior to his exploration of Latin fusion. The session's blistering energy aligned him with the fiery innovations of Pharoah Sanders and Albert Ayler.
