Album Notes & Community Reviews

Emerging forcefully from the Norwegian second wave, Gehenna's 'Seen Through the Veils of Darkness (The Second Spell)' highly distinguishes itself through its heavy reliance on gothic, atmospheric keyboards. While strictly maintaining the requisite harsh vocals and rapid tremolo riffing, the album noticeably prioritizes a morbid, theatrical grandiosity over raw, lo-fi aggression. It represents an undeniably important evolutionary step in the popularization of symphonic elements within the broader black metal framework.
