Album Notes & Community Reviews

'The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway' is a dense rock opera built upon Peter Gabriel鈥檚 surreal narrative of a New York youth's introspective journey, a conceptual departure from the band's previous English mythological themes. The music was largely constructed from band jam sessions, resulting in complex and at times aggressive arrangements to which Gabriel鈥檚 lyrics and experimental vocal production were later fitted. Marking Gabriel鈥檚 final, tension-filled project with Genesis, the ambitious double album was met with a mixed reception but has since earned significant critical acclaim and a lasting cult following.
