Album Notes & Community Reviews

'From the Heart' was Oryema's final studio album, a stripped-down return to the personal narratives of his exile after his father, a cabinet minister, was murdered under Idi Amin and the young singer was smuggled out of Uganda in the trunk of a car. Based in France for the rest of his life, he sang in Acholi, Swahili, English and French, and the record closes a catalogue that began with the Brian Eno-produced 'Exile'.
