Album Notes & Community Reviews
Transitioning away from his earlier, strictly hard bop recordings, the virtuosic guitarist embraces a funky, commercially accessible sound backed by a large ensemble. 'Giblet Gravy' features horn arrangements by Tom McIntosh and leans heavily on infectious, rhythmic vamps. The album laid the groundwork for Benson's massive crossover success in the smooth jazz and pop markets of the subsequent decade.
