Moon Rise Over the Silk Road

Album Notes & Community Reviews

'Moon Rise Over the Silk Road' captures the ongoing improvisational collaboration between Iranian kamancheh virtuoso Kayhan Kalhor and Indian sitar master Shujaat Husain Khan. The album presents a largely improvised and intricate musical dialogue that successfully fuses the ancient classical traditions of Persian and North Indian music. This deeply meditative yet virtuosic performance, supported by tabla, interweaves the distinct sounds of the kamancheh and sitar to create an evocative soundscape that is a landmark of cross-cultural fusion.
