Glenn Gould recorded the twenty-four preludes and fugues of Book I at CBS's 30th Street Studio in New York, in sessions that straddled his retirement from the concert stage. Issued across three LPs and then gathered as a complete set, the performances cover every major and minor key, BWV 846 to 869.
