Goblin's score for 'Suspiria' is a landmark of horror film music, creating a nightmarish and hallucinatory atmosphere that functions as a key narrative element. The band blends progressive rock with a chilling, electronic soundscape, centered on Claudio Simonetti's keyboard work which utilizes Moog synthesizers, Mellotron, and a prominent celesta to build hypnotic, repetitive melodies. This is layered with the full band's driving rhythms, distorted guitars, and a variety of unconventional percussive and ethnic instruments, including tabla and bouzouki, to create a sound that is both musical and intensely terrifying.
