Completely dropping their psychedelic space-whisper vocals, Pierre Moerlen led Gong into a fiercely technical, entirely instrumental percussion-driven phase. Renamed 'Expresso' for the US market, the album is a wonderfully playful, remarkably rhythmic showcase of highly progressive jazz fusion, centered around dazzling vibraphone interplay and brilliantly complex, shifting time signatures.
