Album Notes & Community Reviews

Bassist Larry Graham's sophomore album with his eponymous group further cements his pioneering slap-bass technique as a focal point of 1970s funk. The record is a relentlessly energetic, gospel-tinged celebration of complex rhythms and tight, synchronized horn sections. Its title track became an enduring anthem that heavily influenced the development of slap-bass in both R&B and rock.
