Attempting to capture the chaotic energy of their live shows in a studio setting, the Grateful Dead mixed extensive concert recordings with dense, multi-tracked studio experimentation. 'Anthem of the Sun' is wonderfully mysterious and heavily psychedelic, utilizing incredibly raw, avant-garde sound collages to seamlessly bridge highly surreal, drug-fueled acid rock improvisations.
