Album Notes & Community Reviews
On 'A Caddy for Daddy', tenor saxophonist Hank Mobley convened a stellar sextet that included Lee Morgan and Curtis Fuller. The album smoothly blends Mobley's sophisticated hard bop sensibilities with infectious, blues-drenched soul jazz grooves. Highlighted by McCoy Tyner's elegant piano work and Billy Higgins's irrepressible swing, the record exemplifies Blue Note's mid-60s sweet spot.
