Known as the 'middleweight champion of the tenor saxophone,' Hank Mobley was a defining voice of the hard bop era with a fluid, soulful, and rhythmically sophisticated style. A cornerstone of the #Blue Note# label, he was a prolific composer and leader who recorded over 20 albums, including the quintessential 'Soul Station' and 'Roll Call'. His round, mellow tone offered a lyrical alternative to the more aggressive sounds of his contemporaries.
