Songs for Rounders

Album Notes & Community Reviews

A sharply curated concept record, this collection explicitly gathers narratives detailing the hedonistic lives of drifters, heavy drinkers, and social outcasts. The robust, highly rhythmic Western Swing arrangements provided by the Brazos Valley Boys expertly juxtapose the often dark, morality-challenging lyrical themes with driving, upbeat tempos. It stands out as an unusually cohesive and unapologetically gritty thematic project within the heavily polished era of the Nashville Sound.
