Biography
Hank Thompson was an American country singer from Waco, Texas, whose Brazos Valley Boys mixed honky-tonk and western swing. His #Capitol Records# hits include 'The Wild Side of Life' (1952) and 'A Six Pack to Go' (1960), and his 1961 live album was country's first. He entered the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1989. His 'Wild Side of Life' inspired *Kitty Wells*'s answer record 'It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels', a landmark in women's country music, and his dance-band model shaped honky-tonk for decades.
