La bella vista

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Incredibly stripped-down and intimate, this highly unusual recording captures the legendary ambient composer improvising on a grand piano late at night in a Hollywood hotel room. Surreptitiously recorded by producer Daniel Lanois, the unedited performances feature his signature, softly pedaled aesthetic, beautifully clouded by ambient room noise and environmental artifacts. It is a profoundly delicate and mesmerizing document of pure, spontaneous impressionism.
