Album Notes & Community Reviews

A landmark recording of the iconoclastic American composer's ritualistic dance-satire, initially composed in the 1950s. The score is performed entirely on an incredible array of Partch's massive, hand-built microtonal instruments鈥攊ncluding Cloud-Chamber Bowls and Chromelodeons鈥攑roducing a deeply percussive, otherworldly sonic palette. The work is a foundational, highly radical rejection of the standard Western 12-tone scale, deeply rooted in ancient theatrical traditions.
