Biography
American composer who abandoned equal temperament for a 43-tone just-intonation system and built the instruments to play it, including the Chromelodeon, the Diamond Marimba and the Cloud-Chamber Bowls. Works like 'Barstow' (1941), settings of hitchhiker graffiti, and 'Delusion of the Fury' (1966), issued on his own #Gate 5 Records#, made him a patron saint of experimental music and instrument builders everywhere.
