The Silence in Black and White

Album Notes & Community Reviews

The debut studio effort from the Dayton-based quintet became a defining commercial success for the independent hardcore community, fueled by the widespread popularity of the single 'Ohio Is for Lovers'. The recording is defined by its high-contrast dynamic of clean melodic hooks and aggressive scream-along choruses, a sound that helped standardize the 'mall screamo' aesthetic of the mid-2000s. It documents a significant stylistic shift within post-hardcore, balancing pop-punk accessibility with the structural intensity of the regional Ohio scene.
