Album Notes & Community Reviews
Heitor Villa-Lobos compiled 'Forest of the Amazon' from the score MGM commissioned for 'Green Mansions', the film starring Audrey Hepburn and Anthony Perkins and directed by Mel Ferrer, after the studio used only part of his music and assigned the remainder to Bronislau Kaper. The composer conducted the Symphony of the Air and an unidentified male chorus in the world premiere stereo recording, with Brazilian soprano Bid煤 Say茫o coming out of retirement to sing Dora Vasconcellos's lyrics for the work's four songs.
