Booked into the studio for two weeks, Melbourne and Nunns finished the record in a day and a half, playing some nineteen taonga puoro between them. It was the first compact disc devoted entirely to the traditional instruments of the M膩ori, and it went on to gold sales in New Zealand and a second life sampled across the country's media.
