Album Notes & Community Reviews

Breaking a brief recording hiatus, the iconic pianist and composer returned to the studio to blend his foundational hard bop vocabulary with complex, Latin-tinged rhythms and subtle electric instrumentation. Featuring a mix of quartets and quintets that included vibraphonist David Friedman alongside the Brecker brothers, the compositions display a remarkably sophisticated, tightly arranged rhythmic drive. The session effectively bridged Silver's classic 1960s sound with the burgeoning fusion elements of the new decade.
