Heavily reliant on manipulated tape loops and fuzz bass, the Soft Machine bassist delivered a stark, uncompromisingly avant-garde solo debut. Conceptually drawing from George Orwell's dystopian novel, the dissonant, largely formless compositions effectively bridged the gap between the Canterbury Scene and serious musique concr猫te.
