Album Notes & Community Reviews

The debut solo album from the legendary session drummer firmly establishes his reputation as a master of syncopated, deep-pocket groove. 'Black Rhythm Revolution!' anchors intricate soul-jazz arrangements and scorching horn solos to Idris Muhammad's immaculate, impeccably recorded breakbeats. The LP stands as a foundational text in the evolution of jazz-funk, with its rhythms subsequently heavily sampled in hip-hop.
