This debut full-length established the foundational, terrifying aesthetic of the masked New York extreme metal collective. While not yet fully integrating the avant-garde jazz elements that would define their later masterpieces, the album executes a staggering display of hyper-dissonant, technically demanding black and death metal. It is deeply concerned with the crushing, nightmarish realities of urban decay and the overwhelming scale of modern metropolises.
