Album Notes & Community Reviews

Dedicated to the memory of her recently deceased father, Iris DeMent's second album is a masterclass of vulnerability and pure, unadorned country-folk songwriting. Stripped heavily of typical Nashville embellishments, the record relies almost entirely on her distinctively twangy, emotional vocals and sparse acoustic piano and guitar to deliver devastating personal reflections.
