Album Notes & Community Reviews
Preceding their massive commercial breakthrough, the debut effort by the San Diego group introduced an exceptionally muscular and organ-driven form of psychedelia. The rumbling, down-tuned basslines and fuzz-laden riffs laid crucial groundwork for the heavy psych movement, establishing a dark, portentous tone that deeply influenced early heavy metal.
