Album Notes & Community Reviews
Altoist Jackie McLean continues to push the boundaries of Blue Note hard bop alongside a dynamic quintet featuring Tommy Turrentine and Sonny Clark. The compositions begin to hint at the more liberated, slightly dissonant post-bop frameworks McLean would fully embrace later in the decade, balancing deep blues with complex angularity.
