It's Time!

This album finds Jackie McLean continuing to bridge the gap between fiery hard bop and the avant-garde. The session features the brilliant young trumpeter Charles Tolliver, and the state-of-the-art rhythm section of Herbie Hancock and the explosive Roy Haynes. It's a perfect example of the advanced, open-ended post-bop that defined the Blue Note sound in the mid-60s.
