In Colour

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Jamie xx's debut solo album, 'In Colour', is a kaleidoscopic homage to UK dance music history, blending elements of garage, house, jungle, and rave into a cohesive whole. The production is both minimalist and intricate, weaving unconventional samples from sources like television dramas and un-aired radio shows with live instrumentation and lush synth textures. The record balances introspective, melancholic instrumentals with euphoric vocal tracks, featuring fellow the xx members Romy and Oliver Sim, and standout collaborations with Young Thug and Popcaan that bridge disparate genres.
