Album Notes & Community Reviews

A landmark album that helped define the emerging 'Nordic' sound in jazz and the aesthetic of the ECM label. 'Afric Pepperbird' is a brilliant blend of fiery, American-style free jazz with a cooler, more spacious, and folk-like melodic sensibility. The music is a key document of the European avant-garde, showcasing the unique voices of four of its most important pioneers.
