The acclaimed Norwegian saxophonist collaborates with American guitarist Ralph Towner to create an album of stark, icy beauty that fundamentally defined the 'Nordic Jazz' aesthetic. The recording notably features a custom-built wind harp that played itself in the Norwegian breeze, providing a haunting, continuous drone underneath Garbarek's piercing saxophone melodies. It stands as a pinnacle of the spacious, highly atmospheric production style favored by the ECM label.
