Album Notes & Community Reviews

Michelle Zauner's debut album under the Japanese Breakfast moniker serves as a profoundly moving, lo-fi processing of her mother's terminal cancer diagnosis and subsequent passing. The incredibly brief record buries her devastating, deeply personal lyricism beneath hazy layers of upbeat jangle-pop and shimmering shoegaze guitars. It established her as a remarkably resilient and brilliant new voice in independent music.
