Japanese Breakfast

Japanese Breakfast is the indie pop project of musician, author, and director Michelle Zauner. Emerging from Philadelphia's DIY scene, the project began as a way for Zauner to process grief, with early work like 2016's 'Psychopomp' on #Yellow K Records# defined by its lo-fi textures and emotional depth. The sound evolved on 'Soft Sounds from Another Planet', incorporating shoegaze and electronic elements. With the 2021 album 'Jubilee', released via #Dead Oceans#, Japanese Breakfast embraced a more vibrant and joyful palette, earning Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Music Album. Zauner is also the bestselling author of the memoir *Crying in H Mart*.
