The Swedish singer-songwriter leans heavily into the smoky, cinematic atmospheres of trip-hop and nu-jazz for his sophisticated sophomore effort. Johanson's uniquely androgynous, melancholic croon is perfectly framed by elegant string arrangements, sluggish hip-hop drum loops, and subtle, bossa-nova-inflected acoustic guitars.
