Album Notes & Community Reviews

On what would tragically become his final studio album before his death, the prolific Memphis garage-punk auteur embraced surprisingly sweet, jangly acoustic instrumentation and pristine pop melodies. However, these upbeat sonic textures deliberately mask incredibly dark, isolated lyricism dealing with profound self-hatred and the pressure of indie-rock stardom. The release cemented his legacy as a brilliant, deeply troubled master of modern power-pop.
