Embracing the heavily digitized sound of the mid-1980s, the legendary guitar virtuoso largely set aside his jazz-fusion inclinations for this highly commercial, producer-driven project. 'Flash' heavily utilizes Arthur Baker's booming drum machine programming and prominently features a variety of guest vocalists, most notably an incredibly successful reunion with Rod Stewart on 'People Get Ready.' The controversial stylistic pivot earned Beck his first Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.
