Album Notes & Community Reviews

Utilizing early multi-tracking technology, the woodwind innovator records himself playing all four tenor saxophone parts, meticulously recreating the famous thick reed voicings he popularized with Woody Herman. The resulting overdubbed arrangements are harmonically dense but retain his signature airy, intellectual West Coast aesthetic. It is a brilliant, technologically ambitious conceptual project.
