Album Notes & Community Reviews

Introducing his famous drumless trio format, the visionary reedist emphasizes intricate, folk-inflected counterpoint and subtle group dynamics over overt rhythmic drive. Featuring the incredibly sophisticated guitar work of Jim Hall alongside bassist Ralph Pe帽a, the hushed, deeply conversational interplay creates a remarkably airy acoustic texture. It remains a foundational masterpiece of chamber jazz, showcasing a radical, blues-steeped extension of the West Coast cool aesthetic.
