Album Notes & Community Reviews

Demonstrating his profound dual talents as a muscular tenor saxophonist and a meticulous arranger, the leader guides an exceptional sextet through an ambitious set of original compositions. The complex, highly structured horn voicings elevate the music above standard blowing sessions, supported by a rhythm section featuring Wynton Kelly and Paul Chambers. It is a highly respected, crucial entry in the canon of structurally advanced hard bop.
