Album Notes & Community Reviews
Recorded largely improvisationally during a period of intense personal crisis, John Cale's 'Music for a New Society' is a profoundly harrowing, bleakly beautiful singer-songwriter record. The former Velvet Underground member utilizes painfully sparse, dissonant arrangements and agonizingly emotive vocals to construct an incredibly dark, deeply melancholic atmosphere of total isolation.
