Album Notes & Community Reviews
Surprisingly accessible and warmly orchestrated, John Cale's solo debut completely sidestepped the abrasive drone experimentation expected of the Velvet Underground co-founder. 'Vintage Violence' is a beautifully melodic, incredibly lush pop-rock record, utilizing wonderfully soft, remarkably playful baroque arrangements to deliver deeply bittersweet, melancholic singer-songwriter reflections.
