Album Notes & Community Reviews
A radical and highly polarizing departure from his intense, unaccompanied acoustic masterworks, John Fahey's first major-label venture surrounds his signature fingerpicking with a full, traditional Dixieland jazz band. The arrangements playfully explore vintage early 20th-century pop standards and ragtime tunes, maintaining a deeply nostalgic and slightly eccentric atmosphere. While it alienated portions of his core folk audience, it remains a charmingly whimsical exploration of archaic American musical forms.
