Departing Ultravox to pursue a fiercely uncompromising electronic vision, John Foxx crafted a brilliantly icy, highly mechanical masterwork of early synth-pop. 'Metamatic' relies entirely on rigid analog synthesizers and primitive drum machines to construct an incredibly futuristic, deeply cold, and wonderfully ominous portrait of dystopian urban decay.
